Bill Mellen, left, and Jon Olson give new meaning to the phrase “flipping the bird” during the annual Lions Chicken Barbecue held at Williams Park, 741 Main St., on July 27. The pair were among many Lions members who volunteered to make the popular event a success again this year. Approximately 2,000 half-birds were served to the hungry crowd on hand. Those not wanting to eat at the park were able to go to a drive-through line and get their meal to go. In addition to the food, area residents were also entertained with a live auction of donated goods, games for children, and a live band.
