Westosha Central High School boys tennis looks to be fueled by their top two doubles teams in 2016.
Lucas Graveley and George Capelli look to lead the charge in the Falcons’ attack after being conference champs in 2015.
The Falcons won the Southern Lakes Conference last year, and they look to build on that in 2016.
They finished on top of the conference last year with 47 points followed by Lake Geneva Badger and Wilmot right behind them.
“We expect to be competitive in every match that we play,” coach Paul Brings said. “It depends on what the other teams bring, but we will certainly be competitive.”
The Falcons No. 2 doubles tennis team will consist of Zach Wermeling and Lucas Wysiatko. Both saw time last season as the No. 3 doubles team for the Falcons.
“Our doubles are looking good this year,” coach Brings said. “We need to develop the third doubles team and that is coming along.”
The Falcons are looking for Colin Mast and Kyle Gray to fill that mold in 2016 as the No. 3 doubles team.
Westosha Central will also have a strong No. 1 singles in 2016 as Luke Andrekus leading the charge.
The Falcons will also have Lucas Fitzpatrick, Gage Reynolds, Jared Holloway, Trevor Millhouse, and Tevin Pielhau helping leading the singles attack for the Falcons.
“We could always improve on our serving game and our doubles technique,” Brings said. “We work on that during the season like all teams do.”
Brings is looking forward to finally having practices that are not in cold weather as well.
“Now that we got rid of the snow and cold weather, we can practice now in the warm weather,” Brings said. “That will help us out a little bit.”
To start the season, the Falcons are now sitting at 0-4 (as of Monday) after being defeated by Beloit Memorial, Lake Geneva Badger, Kenosha Indian Trail and Sussex Hamilton.
In their matches with Beloit Memorial on the singles side, Trevor Millhouse came out with the only victory for the Falcons defeating Aiden Murphy.
