Flowers to fill Twin Lakes

For the last 23 years Karla Lennon has been a Twin Lakes resident, she often thought something was missing in the downtown area, and it finally came to her – flowers.

The former Kenosha resident got the idea from cousins in Alma Center, where they have engineered a flower pot project in their community for several years.

“Being an early morning walker in Twin Lakes, I had noticed the downtown was just begging for a little tender loving care,” Lennon said.

After receiving encouragement from her husband, Scott, she approached the Village Board, where she was given the green light to move forward.

The project is expected to begin May 19, with Creative Edge Landscape Owner Corrine Livingston providing the vision, while the community at large has contributed with several donations.

Lennon acknowledged Ace Hardware for the donation of potting soil, Subway for offering sandwiches on planting day, Badgerland on providing signs and Vozel Lawn Maintenance owner Joe Vozel for the willingness to maintain the plants during the summer.

Additionally, Allied Plastic has contributed the effort, Lennon said.

The board approved up to 21 potted plants to spread out along Main Street with 14 already committed towards the project.

Village Administrator Jennifer Frederick, who is the point of contact, is looking forward to the endeavor.

“We all look forward to seeing the results of this effort and appreciate Karla’s leadership,” Frederick said.

Owner Diane Lindstrom of Keller Williams and her team will lead the volunteers in the May 19 planting day.

For monetary donations to the project, contact the Twin Lakes Area Chamber and Business Association at (262) 877-2220 or Frederick at [email protected]
