When Donna and Gregory Pufahl, of Twin Lakes, lost everything they had in a fire Aug. 24, they were left to start all over.
Since that time, area residents have sought ways to help the Pufahls on their feet, according to social media.
Rachael Stollings, a Westosha Central High School teacher, told the Report on Wednesday the couple is staying at La Quinta Inn on Highway 50 and Interstate 94.
“They ask that people interested in donating drop it off at the front desk,” Stollings said.
Stollings added they are in dire need of gift cards, noting they have to eat at area restaurants every day, and rebuild their attire.
“They are in need of gift certificates to places like Walmart, Target, Kohl’s,” Stollings said.
In a Wednesday telephone conversation with Donna, she stated her and her husband face a long road, in getting back to normal.
“We are hanging on, taking it easy,” Donna Pufahl said. “We have to start from scratch.”
Citing space limitations, Donna Pufahl agreed with Stollings, adding they are in need of restaurant gift cards.

Our family has an open rental home in their subdivision. But, no pets or smoking in the house.
Hi, I was a student of Mrs. Pufahl many years ago. Has anyone set up a go fund me account? So much easier to donate for people farther away… Thanks.
Laura, What was your last name when I had you has a student. We are still using our mailing address and picking it up. It is 1714 Sunset Drive, Twin Lakes, My cell phone is 815-592-3932. Yes I also believe a go fund me has been set up.
Donna, so sorry to hear about the fire. It had to be devastating. I am living in Texas now on a farm/ranch. I retired a few years ago. It’s hard to start over but you and Greg are strong and can do it. Wishing you all the best.
