While Westosha Central High School scored first in the second and fourth quarters, Lake Geneva Badger had an answer, but the first and third quarters sent to Falcons to its second straight Southern Lakes Conference loss Sept. 9.

The Falcons, who allowed 13 first quarter points, were held to 207 total offensive yards by the Badgers’ stingy defense.

With 6:41 left in the first quarter, Lake Geneva quarterback Mason DuMez, who completed six of 10 passes for 129 yards, connected on his first of two touchdowns on a 34-yard strike to William Keller.

Badger running back Braden O’Laughlin, who had seven carries for 60 of the team’s 315 rushing yards, added the second score on a 14-yard run to close out the first quarter.

The Falcons defense responded in the second quarter, when sophomore Nico Lemke forced a fumble, returning it for a 14-yard touchdown.

DuMez, who rushed for a team-leading 109 yards on 12 attempts, answered with a 5-yard touchdown to give the Badgers a 20-6 edge entering halftime.

Lake Geneva Badger added a 1-yard score on a run by Ryan Sproul to widen the margin to 26-6 entering the fourth quarter.

Falcons’ senior Josiah McDermit, who did all he could, leading the team in both rushing and passing found Tre Williams for a 53-yard pass to open the fourth quarter.

McDermit completed 9 of 21 passes for 123 yards along with 60 yards rushing on 12 carries.

But, DuMez found Keller again on a 47-yard score to close out 33-12 Westosha Central loss.

Westosha Central (1-3, 0-2 SLC) hosts Burlington Sept. 16.
