The Paddock Lake Village Board reported no problems concerning the golf cart license program for 2015-16 during its meeting Oct. 19.

Village Administrator Tim Popanda reported that in 2015, Paddock Lake issued 23 permits of the 26 applications, with three withheld pending payment of outstanding fees.

In 2016, of the 24 applications, 19 were issued, with three withheld again because of outstanding fees and two permits were not picked up.

Total costs to the village were $1,276, with $370 going towards legal fees to create the ordinance and $193 to purchase blank permits.

However, the most costly was $711 for staff hours to administer the permit process.

But, there was no additional charge from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department to enforce the ordinance.

The total received for permits was $2,100, with $900 left over to offset any contractual increases with the Sheriff’s Department, Popanda said.

Village pleased with water patrol
Early in 2016, the Village of Paddock Lake and Town of Salem entered into a contract for Salem to provide water patrol for the village.

As part of the contract, the Town of Salem agreed to provide between 192 and 240 hours of water patrol annually at a cost of $35 per hour and another $1,000 for town administrative costs.

The hours of water patrol vary based on the weather.

The Town of Salem logged 112 hours of water patrol, bringing the total cost to $3,920.

Additionally, Paddock Lake paid the Town of Salem $500 for administrative fees and another $500 for training, uniforms and equipment.

The total cost to the village was $4,920, but reduced to a final cost of $1,968, following a Department of Natural Resources reimbursement of $2,952.

“The village and more importantly the residents were happy with the Town of Salem water patrol,” Popanda reported.
