Kurylo sole Falcons first team honoree

Wilmot Union High Union had six football first team all-Southern Lakes Conference selections while Westosha Central produced its first since 2014.

The Panthers, whose six players earned first time recognition, are the most since 2011 when the school had five on the first team.

Receiving honors for Wilmot Union were junior running back Robert Brent, senior offensive lineman Andrew Buchanan, senior kicker Jeff Shoopman, senior defensive lineman Ty Mulcahy, junior linebacker Zach Christopherson and senior punter Jake Raiman.

Westosha Central's Austin Kurylo became the first Falcon to receive first team honors since 2014 (Earlene Frederick/The Report).

In 2011, the Panthers had Chris Nelson, Matt Christensen, Paul Swartz, Zach Dodge and Ryan Gartner on the first team.

For Westosha Central, however, senior defensive back Austin Kurylo is the first Falcon to earn first team all-SLC since 2014 when Luke Blair received the honor at linebacker.

Three Panthers on second team, Lemke sole Falcon
On the second team, the Panthers have three representatives consisting of Mulcahy, honored for his offensive line work, along with senior defensive lineman Troy Stewart and junior defensive back Jacob Gerzel.

Falcons’ sophomore Nico Lemke, who is in his first full varsity season, earned second team honors on the offensive line.

Frisby, Williams receive recognition
Wilmot junior quarterback A.J. Frisby and Falcons’ senior receiver Tre Williams were the only two area players to receive honorable mention.

Both made their first appearance on the all-conference list.

Panthers senior kicker Jeff Shoopman, who received first team all-conference, chipped in two game-winning field goals this season. The kicker was congratulated by A.J. Frisby, who received honorable mention (Earlene Frederick File Photo/The Report).
